Extrusion groups sold to private equity investor / Combined turnover of EUR 200m
European private equity investor Triton has acquired the Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik and Cincinnati Extrusion groups from SMS (Meinerzhagen / Germany; www.sms-k.com). Financial details were not disclosed. SMS said that the sale is part of its strategy to focus on its core businesses in metallurgical machinery and plant production under the SMS metallurgy brand.
Triton is acquiring all the companies in the SMS group that manufacture machinery and plant equipment for tube and long product extrusion and related areas. These are Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik and SMS Extrusion Kempen in Germany, American Maplan Corporation (US), Battenfeld Extrusion Systems (China), and Cincinnati Extrusion (Austria, China and US). These businesses have combined sales of EUR 200m and around 1,000 employees. The US film and foil technology specialist Battenfeld Gloucester remains with SMS.
