Italian compounder Sirmax (Cittadella; www.sirmax.com) has completed a capacity expansion at its site in Kutno / Poland. A company spokesperson told Plasteurope.com the installation of a new twin-screw extruder from Coperion (Stuttgart / Germany; www.coperion.com) increased output by an additional 8,000 t/y.
The increased capacity primarily involves glass fibre-reinforced PP compounds designed to meet the rising needs of the automotive and household goods sectors. The Kutno plant manufactures the “Isofil” (mineral-filled) and “Isoglass” (glass fibre-reinforced) brands of PP compounds. The site, which was initially commissioned in 2006, has overall capacity for 40,000 t/y.
