SIRANE
UK packaging producer opens new offices in Africa, Middle East and Turkey
Over the last two months there has been a flurry of activity at UK packaging producer Sirane (Telford, Shropshire; www.sirane.com). After opening an office in Cape Town / South Africa in early September, the group followed up with a coordination hub in Dubai / United Arab Emirates and in late October also inaugurated an operation in Antalya / Turkey.
Headed by Stacey Loader, the South Africa operation is aimed at introducing Sirane’s fresh food packaging – including shelf-life extending bags and films, absorbent fruit pads and odour-absorbing meat pads – across the African continent. By contrast, the hub in Dubai will focus on handling sales, logistics, licences and permits for the region.
Closer to home, Sirane on 24 October said it opened a new operation in the Turkish port city of Antalya, which it said “will help Sirane push into Turkey, the Middle East, North Africa and north into Russia and the Ukraine.” The UK group added that it chose the southern Turkish location because of its proximity to the country’s fertile food production areas, where it feels its portfolio will be of most use. Sirane Turkey is headed by Taskin Öztas.
Founded in 2003, Sirane has four business divisions: Food Packaging, Medical and Healthcare, Industrial as well as Horticultural.
