Strong overseas performance boosts sales in toy market
Toy manufacturer Simba-Dickie (Fürth / Germany; www.simbatoys.com) has reported sales of EUR 370m in 2007, an increase of 9% on the previous year, thanks to strong performance in its two associated companies in Hong Kong and its other overseas subsidiaries. EUR 230m of the sales total came from its foreign businesses. Exports accounted for around 62% of turnover, compared with 59% in 2006, with France, England, Spain and Holland providing the most important markets in 2007. The group is forecasting a further increase in sales of 4% to EUR 385m in 2008.

During the year the company increased its staff by 100, reaching 1,000 employees by the end of 2007. The two facilities in China, in which the group has majority stakes through joint ventures, make toys predominantly in plastic and employ a further 2,000 people.
