SILON
Czech polyolefin compounder to build first factory in the USA
Polyolefin compounds ("Taborex", "Taboren") and polyester staple fibres manufacturer Silon (Planá nad Lužnicí / Czech Republic; www.silon.eu) is set to invest around USD 20m (EUR 17.5m) in a new plant in the USA. This will be the first US factory for Silon, to be located in Peachtree City, Georgia.
Silon recently generated sales of around EUR 140m with its three companies Silon International (Düsseldorf / Germany), Czech Industrial Park and Tesil Fibres (both in Planá nad Lužnicí). The company employs 550 people and is headed by managing partner Bernhard Rustige as well as CFO Bernd Morawitz and CSO Ronald Voigt. Silon has capacities for 58,000 t/y of PP and XLPE compounds and 48,000 t for post-consumer staple fibres. Its target industries are construction, automotive engineering and medical technology.
