Integration of Krupp Kunststofftechnik on 1 October / Renaming and reorganisation
As reported by SIG Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft Holding AG (CH-8212 Neuhausen), preparations for the integration of Krupp Kunststofftechnik and its subsidiaries have been largely completed. SIG acquired the machinery construction division of ThyssenKrupp on 1 July 2000. The key integration steps are being brought to a close on 1 October 2000. Apart from the change in company names, various structural and organisational alignments are also planned.

Krupp Kunststofftechnik, the holding company to date, is being renamed SIG Plastics International GmbH (D-45413 Essen) with Werner Fillmann and, as of 1 January 2001, Ralf Bajorat as managing directors. Sales of EUR 312m are expected for 2001, with a payroll of 1700. Krupp Kautex and Fischer W. Müller Blasformtechnik are being fused into a centre of competence for extrusion blow moulding machinery under the name SIG Blowtec GmbH & Co KG (Kautexstr. 54, D-53229 Bonn). Management will be in the hands of Jürgen Hagedorn, Andreas Kandt and Ralf Bajorat. Krupp Corpoplast is to become SIG Corpoplast GmbH & Co KG (Meiendorfer Str. 203, D-22145 Hamburg) with Dr. Norbert Bargele and Dr. Olaf Weiland as managing directors.

A new subsidiary, SIG PETtec GmbH & Co KG, is being formed in Troisdorf for activities in the PET injection stretch blow moulding machinery sector. This will employ the single-step process jointly developed and marketed by Kautex and Corpoplast to date. Dirk Wehrens will be taking over the management. A further company creation is SIG Moldtec GmbH & Co KG, with head office in Essen. This will take in the mould and die-making activities of Krupp Kunststofftechnik, which are being spun off to create a centre of competence to supply the PET industry. Peter Horn and Heinrich Storm will hold the management posts here.

The can business is being hived off to form the new SIG Cantec GmbH & Co KG in Essen. The name SIG is also being included in the company designations of production firms in the USA, Brazil and China, to replace Krupp. This similarly applies to the marketing and service companies in Canada, Italy, Argentina, Great Britain and France.
