SIG Combibloc Obeikan (Dubai / United Arab Emirates) – a joint venture between SIG Combibloc (Neuhausen / Switzerland; www.sig.biz) and the Obeikan Investment Group (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.obeikan.com.sa) – has moved into a new headquarters in Dubai Silicon Oasis / UAE. The 4,150 m2 building will house the beverage carton producer’s regional support offices, a knowledge academy as well as a training centre. The latter will not only train the group’s own employees but also those of its customers in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey.
Commenting on the opening, SIG Combibloc Obeikan chief operating officer Christ Alt said, “Through our new headquarters, we aim to offer tailored solutions for our customers and consolidate all our regional functions – two essential requirements as we expand our business and services to meet the demands of our customers and the growing number of employees in the region.”
Counting the new centre, SIG Combibloc now operates five training centres globally – the other four are located in Brazil, Germany, Thailand and China. Obeikan Investment Group also runs another knowledge academy, situated at its headquarters in Riyadh.
SIG Combibloc became part of Canadian private equity group Onex (Toronto; www.onex.com) last year (see Plasteurope.com of 26.11.2014). The company purports to be one of the world’s leading system supplier of carton packaging and filling machines for beverages and food. Its 2014 turnover came to EUR 1.6 bn.
