SIBUR
Portfolio now includes PET film grades / FDA-approved for food contact
Sibur (Moscow / Russia; www.sibur.com) has extended its portfolio with the addition of PET film grades. Its Sibur-PETF (Tver / Russia) subsidiary reportedly adjusted its plant accordingly in 2015, and is now able to produce both bottle and film grade. Output of both materials is proceeding at regular commercial rates. Sibur also announced that independent peer reviews have confirmed that the grades are suitable for food contact and comply with the regulations of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A look at Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe capacity database (www.polyglobe.net) shows that Sibur’s plant in Tver, located northwest of Moscow, can turn out 70,000 t/y of PET. The company also has another PET-producing subsidiary: Polief (Blagoveshchensk / Russia) is located at the country’s border to China, and has nameplate capacity for 210,000 t/y.
