SIBUR
Uniform system of PP grading codes to be introduced by joint venture with Moscow Oil Refinery / Trading subsidiaries established in Turkey and Ukraine
NPP Neftekhimiya, the joint venture of Russian petrochemical holding Sibur (Moscow; www.sibur.ru) and Gazprom Neft’s Moscow Oil Refinery, established in 2010 (see Plasteurope.com of 16.09.2010), are to implement a uniform system of PP grading codes from 1 March 2013. The companies said the new codes are more informative, indicating a polymer’s type, use and melt flow rate, which will make it easier for consumers to choose an appropriate grade and give them a better understanding of the company’s grade range.
Meanwhile, Sibur’s trading division, Sibur International (Vienna / Austria; www.sibur-int.com), has registered subsidiaries in Turkey and Ukraine – Sibur International Trading Istanbul and Sibur International Trading Kiev – which will trade in basic polymers.
Sibur said that Turkey is one of the largest consumers of PP, and material produced by the new Tobolsk-Polymer complex will be sold by the Istanbul subsidiary once the facility is commissioned – see Plasteurope.com of 26.06.2012. Similarly, Ukraine is one of the largest markets for PE and PP in the CIS. The Kiev subsidiary will sell PP produced by Sibur subsidiary Tomskneftekhim (Tomsk / Russia; www.tnhk.ru) and Tobolsk-Polymer.
The company said the major PP consumers in Turkey and Ukraine are big bag and woven bag, rug, BOPP film, non-woven fabric and compound manufacturers.
