SIAM CEMENT
JV with A. Schulman for rotational moulding compounds in Thailand
Siam Cement Public Company (SCC, Bangkok / Thailand; www.scg.co.th/en), through its Siam Cement Chemicals subsidiary has founded a majority joint venture in rotational moulding compounds with US plastics compounder and distributor A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio; www.aschulman.com).
SCC will hold an 87% share in the new company with expected sales of THB 3 bn (about EUR 67m) and will also merge part of its Thailand-based rotational moulding compound assets with Schulman’s Malaysia-based assets.
The Thai company said the JV will lend synergies to both partners’ production platforms while enhancing their marketing efforts in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the CIS countries. The compounds produced from medium-density PE (MDPE) go into the production of water tanks as well as furniture and kayaks, among other products.
