SGL GROUP
Takeover of Portugal's Fisipe complete
The takeover process that started in spring this year (for latest coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 24.07.2012) has now been wrapped up as SGL Group (Wiesbaden / Germany; www.sglgroup.com) announced that it has acquired 100% of the shares in Fibras Sintéticas de Portugal (Fisipe, Lavradio / Portugal; www.fisipe.pt). The latter company is now no longer traded on the Lisbon Stock Exchange and now forms part of SGL’s Carbon Fibers & Composite Materials business unit.
The purchase allows the German group to expand its production network for the supply of carbon fibre raw materials, specifically precursors. SGL said it will gradually convert and expand Fisipe’s existing textile fibre production lines, adding that the Portuguese company’s production and marketing of acrylic fibres would be continued.
