The Italy-based manufacturer of blow-moulded packaging Serioplast (Seriate; www.serioplast.com) has occupied a new headquarters building in Seriate near Bergamo. Some EUR 11.5m was invested in the renovation and new construction of the 25,000 m² property, which has been owned by the Serioplast parent company Old Mill Holding (Urgnano / Italy) since 2016.
“For Serioplast this means a return to the place where my brother Luigi Innocenti, Franco Cistellini and I founded the company in 1974,” says partner Dario Innocenti. Originally started with an extrusion blow moulding machine, plastic packaging from the company is now produced on more than 300 machines. Serioplast operates 30 production sites in 14 countries and employs a total of more than 1,600 people. The company reported sales of EUR 280m in 2019.
In addition to Serioplast, the mould maker Seriomould, the extrusion and blow moulding machine manufacturer Seriomac, and the contract filler Well belong to Old Mill Holding. The central offices of the Serioplast group, the development and mechanical engineering units of Seriomac, and production areas for the realisation of the Seriomould products are housed on the new site. The workforce of currently 240 in Seriate is expected to grow by 35 in 2021.
According to Italian media reports, Serioplast took out a loan of EUR 77m in the summer of 2020 in order to set up additional production facilities (see Plasteurope.com of 18.06.2020). Specifically, the commissioning of a second plant in the US state of North Carolina, one in Algeria and one in Veneto / Italy are mentioned.
