Compostable films from Cardia Bioplastics specified for “PakNatural" range of cushion bags
US protective packaging supplier Sealed Air (Elmwood Park, New Jersey; www.sealedair.com) has specified compostable films from Cardia Bioplastics (Melbourne / Australia; www.cardiabioplastics.com) for its “PakNatural” biodegradable cushion bags. The range of bags is made from renewable materials and is entirely biodegradable and compostable.

The Cardia “Compostable” film had to meet high performance standards during both the manufacture of the film and later at the point of use, when it is converted into a cushion bag. The systems are fast and easy to operate, delivering cushions on demand for protection and void filling, while reducing material and shipping costs.

John Wolf, Sealed Air global vice president, general use segment, said: “When it comes to sustainability, we focus on the total life cycle of our products and the products we protect. Our strategy involves understanding the beginning and end of life, in addition to the performance during use.” Sealed Air already uses Cardia's Biohybrid technology for its "Fill-Air R5" inflatable packaging range.
