Schoeller Wavin and Arca merge packaging
Schoeller Wavin Systems (NL-7770 AB Hardenberg; www.schoellerwavinsystems.com) and Arca Systems (S-28422 Perstorp; www.arcasys.com) merged operations on 8 February to create what they claim is the world´s largest manufacturer of plastic returnable packaging for material handling. The new firm, Schoeller Arca Systems (www.schoellerarcasystems.com), will be based in The Netherlands. Up to now, Schoeller Wavin has been European market leader for crates and trays for the beverage industry and pooling companies, while Arca has enjoyed a similar position in returnable plastic packaging used in various industries. Pro forma sales of the new company, which has 1,750 employees, were EUR 520m for 2004.
