SCHOELLER WAVIN
Joint success in 2000 / Berlin sites faces closure / Optimising efficiency
Schoeller Wavin Systems (NL-7770 AD Hardenberg / D-82041 Oberhaching; www.schoellerwavinsystems.com), which became the “market leader for innovative plastic returnable systems for efficient storage and transport” (especially for the beverage industry – main product: bottle crates) in 1999 through the merger of Wavin Trepak and Schoeller Plast (see Plasteurope.com 19, 1999), achieved what it describes as a “good result” in 2000, its first year together. Sales rose by 14% to EUR 192m, and the operating result was up 17% to EUR 14.7m. The Group intends to close its Berlin site some time in the first quarter of 2001. By concentrating on its Schwerin, Hermeskeil and Hardenberg/Netherlands locations, the company wants to make better use of synergies and optimise its efficiency. The Group currently has some 900 employees at 13 production sites and is represented in 36 countries.
