SCHOELLER ALLIBERT
Subcontracting agreement with Finnish Wiitta / Focus on meat packaging and milk cartons
The Finnish subsidiary of Dutch reusable plastic packaging manufacturer Schoeller Allibert (Zwolle; www.schoellerallibert.com) has signed an agreement with Wiitta (Heinola / Finland; www.wiitta.com) handing over its production activities in Heinola to the manufacturer of injection-moulded plastic products for an undisclosed sum.
Under the terms of the subcontracting agreement signed in June, Wiitta will continue producing Schoeller Allibert products and no employment redundancies are to be made with all 20 Schoeller Allibert employees transferring to Wiitta. The production agreement involves primarily packaging for meat products as well as milk cartons, a spokesperson from Wiitta told Plasteurope.com. Eventually, lids and caps could also become part of the subcontracting deal.
The family-owned Wiitta has built a reputation as a manufacturer of sewage fittings and injection custom mouldings in plastic and rubber and has two production sites in Heinola and Kuivaniemi. Its budgeted turnover for the current fiscal year is EUR 7m.
For Schoeller Allibert, the arrangement puts the company in a strategically better position to serve customers in Northern Europe. Earlier in February, the Dutch company, created out of a merger involving Schoeller Arca and Linpac Allibert – see Plasteurope.com of 08.01.2013 – closed down its production in Sweden.
