New plastic packaging plant / Investment of DM 63m / Al-Shehri with further expansion
Al-Sharq Factories for Plastic and Paper Products intends to build a modern factory for the production of high-quality plastic packaging in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia. As the owner, Ali Ibn Sulaiman Al-Shehri, informed the press, the project will require an investment of about Saudi riyals 150m (DM 62.5m; 100 SRIs = DM 41.67). The plant will be the first of this type in the Middle East.
Al-Shehri also intends to extend his existing plastic-processing facilities and to equip them with state-of-the-art technology. For this purpose the acquisition of new machinery and equipment worth about SRI 50m is planned. Al-Shehri puts the annual output of his facilities at some 50,000 t, which represent a value of SRI 400m. He estimates the annual demand for plastic packaging in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at 360,000 t. About 75% will be covered by foreign production.
Al-Sharq's range of production includes, among others, plastic canisters, PVC tubes, dustbins, household items made of melamine, disposable cups and dishes, sheets made of PMMA and PC, glass fibre products, sacks and bags made of plastic film. The company is constantly extending its range of products.
