Samvardhana Motherson Peguform (SMP, Bötzingen / Germany; www.smp-automotive.de), which is part of the automotive supplier group Samvardhana Motherson (Noida, Uttar Pradesh / India; www.motherson.com), has officially started up its car bumper production line in Kecskemet / Hungary. Costing EUR 100m and occupying an area of 96,000 m², the plant has a workforce of 450 producing not only bumpers, but also dashboards and door panels. The construction project was announced in mid-2015 (see Plasteurope.com of 19.05.2015).
Another investment project in Hungary, said to cost around EUR 25m, involves the expansion of the production facility for exterior mirrors at SMP's sister company, Samvardhana Motherson Reflectec (SMR) in Túrkeve, which got under way in the summer. This site should also see the creation of around 400 new jobs.
