USD 2.5 bn contract from Takreer for new carbon black and coker unit in Ruwais
Samsung Engineering (Seoul / South Korea; www.samsungengineering.co.kr) has been awarded a USD 2.48 bn contract to build a carbon black and delayed coker unit for Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer, Abu Dhabi / United Arab Emirates; www.takreer.com), part of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc, Abu Dhabi / UAE; www.adnoc.com). The 40,000 t/y carbon black facility will be located in Ruwais and is scheduled for completion in December 2015. The site will also turn out 30,000 bbl of oil a day.
Aside from project management, Samsung Engineering has been tasked with the facility’s construction, commissioning and procurement. The South Korean company said this is the eighth order it has received from Adnoc in the past five years.
