German PVC profiles producer Salamander Industrie-Produkte (Türkheim; www.sip-window.com) has called the meeting between its regional representative Cem Inan (SB PVC) and Turkish window producer Pidosan (Ankara; www.pidosan.com.tr), held in mid-February, a watershed moment for the Turkish market. During the meeting with the Ankara-based group, which purports to be Turkey’s leading PVC window producer, the two companies outlined plans for a common strategic realignment. Pidosan board member Yalcin Karslioglu said the company’s long-term collaboration with Salamander is to be taken to a new level in order to realise an “offensive and aggressive expansion policy” on the Turkish market.
The strategic preparations planned for 2016 will focus on actively promoting the “Salamander” brand name in Turkey. Rising domestic demand for western European profile systems, made of “high-quality branded plastic”, is the reason behind Salamander managing shareholder Wolfgang Sandhaus’ decision to increase the company’s activities in the country. Doing so will allow the German group to successfully position itself as a system supplier in the premium market segment.
Aside from PVC door and window systems, Pidosan also produces shutters, steel and fire doors as well as glass balconies. The company’s 35,000 m2 production plant is located in Ankara’s Ivedik Organized Industrial Zone, and employs about 350 workers. Founded in 1993, the company also collaborates with the Turkish subsidiaries of Deceuninck (Hooglede-Gits / Belgium; www.deceuninck.com). The latter PVC profile producer reorganised and consolidated its Turkey business – including the “Pimapen”, “Winsa” and “Egepen” brand names – early this year (see Plasteurope.com of 02.03.2016).
Salamander, which is majority-owned by its founding family, recently touted plans to raise its international profile. With that in mind, the company is planning to increase its business in North and South America, Asia and Oceania (see Plasteurope.com of 03.02.2016). The group’s global workforce comes to 1,300, and its plastic profile systems are sold to more than 70 countries worldwide.
