Expansion of Moroccan composites plant for jet engine housings

French aircraft equipment supplier Safran (Paris; www.safran-group.com) has announced the enlargement of its plant for engine nacelles for business jets in Casablanca, Morocco, a project that cost some EUR 11 mn.
The footprint of the production facility, which was built in 2005 and is geared towards processing composites, has increased by 6,000 m², according to Safran.

The company said it has doubled clean room production to 3,600 m² and added new large autoclaves. In the course of the year, the number of employees on site is expected to increase by 100 to 950, the firm noted, adding that a solar power system has been set up to cover one-fifth of the plant’s electricity requirements.
