Development of bio-based Noryl grades from ISCC Plus certified feedstocks
Saudi polymer producer Sabic (Riyadh; www.sabic.com) said it is now offering bio-based versions of all Noryl, Flexible Noryl, Noryl GTX, and Noryl PPX resin grades as drop-in replacements for traditional fossil-based grades. Available on the market already, the bio-based grades are formulated with ISCC Plus certified polyphenylene ether (PPE) resin feedstocks, Sabic added.

The Noryl NH5120BIO4 resin is suited for housings and enclosures, heating/ventilation/air-conditioning (HVAC) components and photovoltaic/solar junction boxes, while the Noryl GFN2BIO3 is a candidate for indoor and outdoor applications in building and construction and lawn and garden, according to the company.

Noryl GTX902BIO3 has potential use in automotive wheel covers, automotive electrical components, and painted automotive trim. Sabic plans for the Noryl grades formulated with the bio-based feedstocks to be ISCC Plus certified, said Evelyn Pearson, senior manager, Process Technology, Technology & Innovation, Specialties at Sabic.
