SABIC
Collaboration with Fardem Packaging and Morssinkhof Rymoplast / Recycled material will be used to package up to 100,000 t/y of resin
Four million plastic bags made with 50% recycled material will be used to package polymer resin, after a "closed-loop" collaboration was established between global petrochemical company Sabic (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.sabic.com), converter Fardem Packaging, a subsidiary of Oerlemans Packaging (Genderen / The Netherlands; www.oerlemanspackaging.nl), and Dutch recycling company Morssinkhof Rymoplast (Lichtenvoorde; www.morssinkhofplastics.nl).

During the process, Sabic captures the recyclate from its packaging material and converts it into new plastic bags containing 50% recyclate. Morssinkhof Rymoplast collects the used plastic bags from a logistics service provider contracted by Sabic, and converts them back into recycled plastic pellets. Fardem Packaging is then responsible for adding 50% virgin material to 50% of the recycled material, to make plastic bags that weigh 100 g and can carry 25 kg of plastic product. These bags are then used to package selected Sabic resins with up to 100,000 t/y of plastic transported to its customers in recycled bags.
