Sabic Innovative Plastic (Sabic IP, Bergen op Zoom / The Netherlands; www.sabic-ip.com) announced at the "Roof India 2012" fair in Chennai / India, its latest capacity investment in the country. Sabic is set to open "Lexan" multiwall sheet production lines at its Vadodara manufacturing facility. This new line is set to produce two-sided ultraviolet protected "Lexan Thermoclear" multiwall sheet in clear and custom colours for roofing, glazing and cladding applications.
It is also expected to strengthen Sabic's capabilities in the region, which include a team of technologists and a complete supply chain and distribution organization. This move is aimed to address the rising demand in the region for Sabic's multiwall polycarbonate sheet products, used for roofing and glazing in the building and construction and greenhouse sector.
Driven by infrastructure investment and development in the commercial and industrial roofing sectors like airports, rail stations, metro rail, bus stations, malls and hospitals, India's economy achieves a 7 to 9% growth per year.
