SABIC
New addition to PP “Flowpact” range / Designed for thin-wall containers such as margarine tubs
Sabic (Sittard / The Netherlands; www.sabic-europe.com) has introduced a new grade to its PP “Flowpact” range of impact copolymers designed for thin-wall injection moulded packaging. The company said the material, PP Flowpact FPC 100, is suitable for the production of thin wall containers for yellow fats and for packaging for dairy products such as yoghurts, cream, flavoured milk and cheese spreads. PP Flowpact FPC 100 has a melt flow rate of 100 g/10 min at 230°C/2.16 kg and a high crystallisation speed, allowing moulders to decrease their cycle times, Sabic adds.
The material was demonstrated by Stork Plastics Machinery (Hengelo / The Netherlands; www.storkspm.com) at the “Fakuma” (www.fakuma-messe.de) trade fair for plastics processing held 18-22 October in Friedrichshafen / Germany. The manufacturer of high speed injection moulding machines used it to make margarine tubs with 0.45 mm wall thicknesses in a four-cavity mould, Sabic said.
