Carbon fibre licence agreement with Montefibre / Companies plan to build plant in Saudi Arabia
Sabic (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.sabic.com) has signed a technology agreement with Montefibre (Milan / Italy; www.mef.it) granting Sabic an international licence on carbon fibre technology developed by the Italian fibres producer. Sabic will first use the technology for a new carbon fibre plant to be built in Saudi Arabia. The project is expected to provide over 3,000 t/y of industrial grade carbon fibre to serve emerging markets in the Middle East as well as international markets.

The companies also signed a memorandum of understanding to study the feasibility of a new carbon fibre production plant in Spain to be integrated into Montefibre’s existing acrylic fibre production site in Miranda de Ebro in the north of the country.
