Long-term naphtha storage agreement with Oiltanking Stolthaven / State-of-the art storage facility with jetty in Antwerp
At the beginning of October, Sabic Europe (Geleen / The Netherlands; www.sabic-europe.com) inked an agreement with Oiltanking Stolthaven Antwerp (Antwerp / Belgium) for the storage of naphtha to ensure feedstock supply for the former’s 1.3m t/y ethylene crackers in Geleen. As part of the deal, which is to come into effect in 2013, Oiltanking Stolthaven will provide a state-of-the-art storage facility and a new jetty will be built at the site as well.
The new storage facility not only underlines Sabic Europe’s commitment to its site in Geleen, it is also part of the company’s efforts to streamline its global supply chain, explained Yousef Al-Zamel, executive vice president Chemicals at Sabic (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.sabic.com). He added that the company is also pursuing other investments and partnerships to secure the sustainability of its supply chain.
Oiltanking Stolthaven Antwerp is a joint venture between Oiltanking (Hamburg / Germany; www.oiltanking.com) and Stolthaven Terminals.
