Stamax LGF PP now available worldwide / Plans to expand production
Sabic Innovative Plastics (Sabic IP, Bergen op Zoom / The Netherlands; www.sabic-ip.com) and Sabic PP Automotive are to jointly market the "Stamax" LGF PP range worldwide. Until now, both sales and production have been restricted to Europe.
The family of products – which to date has been produced in Genk / Belgium – has been "so successful that customers and OEMs around the world are now also showing interest," reports Greg Adams, vice president automotive, Sabic IP. To satisfy the expected increase in demand, the company is planning to expand production. In 2009, a new production facility will be built in North America, followed by another in the Asia/Pacific region in 2010. The level of investment and output of the two planned plants were not revealed.
The Stamax resins have been developed for applications in the automotive industry, in which they can replace other materials, for example steel in the production of doors and supports for front modules and instrument panels.
