SABIC / CELANESE
POM line commercially operational
The first POM production in the Middle East (see Plasteurope.com of 21.06.2017) has successfully moved into commercial operation. Ibn Sina, a joint venture of POM giant Celanese (Dallas, Texas / USA; www.celanese.com) with Sabic (Riyadh / Saudi Arabia; www.sabic.com) and Duke Energy (Charlotte, North Carolina / USA; www.duke-energy.com) is the operating company. The facility in Jubail / Saudi Arabia has a capacity of 50,000 t/y of engineering plastics.

According to Plasteurope.com's Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), global POM capacities are currently just under 1.8m t/y.
