Purchase of Wiko Group / Injection moulding cluster for cosmetics, body care and pharmacy
The British RPC Group (Grove Street, GB-Raunds NN9 6ED) continues to expand. After taking over the British lipstick holder manufacturer Cresstale Ltd. last year (see Plasteurope.com 22, 1999), “Europe´s leading manufacturer of rigid plastics packaging” has now purchased the Wiko Group (HQ: Donatusstr. 102, D-50259 Pulheim) for DEM 76m (EUR 38.9m).
In addition to the core company, Josef Wischerath GmbH & Co. KG, which was founded in 1945, the acquired group also comprises Formatec Wischerath GmbH & Co. KG (D-97638 Mellrichstadt) and Czewo-Plast Kunststofftechnik GmbH (D-93073 Neutraubling). The deal also takes in the 75% holding of Wiko-USA Inc. (Exton, PA 19341), but not Tooltec Werkzeug- und Kunststofftechnik GmbH (D-98631 Wolfmannshausen), which remains with the family-owned Czech Holding. The acquired companies posted sales of EUR 45.5m and an operating result of EUR 1.3m in 1999.
With the acquisition, the RPC Group has formed a new “cluster” for the injection moulding segment. The new companies, RPC Wiko KG, RPC Formatec KG and RPC Neutraubling GmbH will be assigned to the existing unit of RPC Bramlage GmbH (D-49393 Lohne), RPC Verpakkungen Celle GmbH (D-29223 Celle) and RPC Cresstale Ltd. (Thornaby-on-Tees/GB). The new business group “injection moulding activities for the field of cosmetics, body care and pharmacy” has total sales of EUR 128m and around 1,500 employees. This business group is headquartered in Lohne.
