New custom-made “Pont pack” to deliver pharmaceuticals in standard letter post
Plastic container specialist RPC Containers Market Rasen (Market Rasen, Lincolnshire / UK; www.rpc-marketrasen.co.uk) has succeeded in developing a new, unusual pack for the mail delivery of pharmaceuticals. Developed in cooperation with European plastics container distribution company Pont Europe (Mönchengladbach / Germany; www.ponteurope.com), the new “Pont pack” is a rigid container that allows for the safe delivery of pharmaceutical products via standard letter post.

With the key requirements that the pack be less than 25 mm deep with a neck opening as big as possible to ensure easy filling, RPC had to meet the technical challenge of producing a pack shape that is outside conventional blow tolerances. “Our technical team worked hard to ensure that this concept with a width to depth ratio of over 4:1 is viable, with the creation of pilot tooling to manufacture a workable prototype,” explained RPC design manager Jim Dale.
