RETROPLAST
A New Plastics Recycling Company in Norway / Capacity 6,000 tpa
Borealis, Norsk Hydro and SND (The Norwegian Industrial and Regional Development Fund) have formed a new joint-venture company in Norway involved in the recycling of plastics waste products. The new company is named Retroplast AS (Havneveien 35, N-3739 Skien) and is located in southern Norway, close to the petrochemicals plants of Borealis and Norsk Hydro. The three owners have equal holdings in the new company. Borealis NV (Bazellaan 1, B-1140 Brussels): "The main goal of Retroplast will be to create a profitable and viable recycling business by processing plastics waste into new, serviceable, and competitive products, such as untreated sheeting used in construction, plastic pallets, and insulation materials. Retroplast will initially handle 6,000 t of plastic waste per year."
Initial work with raw materials will begin this spring. Installation of production equipment will begin after the summer, with the production expected towards the end of the year. – Anders Gonsholt has been appointed Managing Director of Retroplast AS. The members of the board are Oivind Gjerstad (Chairman) and Bo Tinnberg of Borealis, Willy Wiik and Ingvar Dyrseth of SND, and Trond Stangeby and Hallstein Gravrak of Norsk Hydro.
