RESINEX / CONSTAB
Additive masterbatches: “Bundling marketing forces” / Joint company founded
At the beginning of February 1999, plastics distributor Resinex Deutschland GmbH (Sandwiesenstr. 27, D-64665 Alsbach-Hähnlein) and masterbatch manufacturer Constab Polymer-Chemie GmbH & Co (Möhnetal 16, D-59602 Rüthen) set up the Resinex-Constab Vertriebs GmbH, Alsbach, as “an effective source of supply for plastics additives”. The Managing Directors are Hans-Peter Meyerhoff and Dr. Ulrich Berlage. Meyerhoff is also one of the Managing Directors of Resinex Deutschland, while Berlage is also Managing Director of Constab. The Resinex-Constab Vertriebs GmbH joint venture will, with immediate effect, be marketing the range of additive masterbatches produced by Constab. These include UV and heat stabilisers, antistatic agents, lubricants, anti-blocking agents, IR absorbers and other additive concentrates for injection moulding, extrusion and film production. The new company is initially concentrating its marketing activities on Germany, where Constab traditionally has a strong position in agricultural and packaging films, while Resinex has an almost complete range of materials for injection moulders and extruders. Before the end of the year, the new joint venture will also be starting to build up “a stock of customers from all fields of plastics processing in Europe”.

As a “basis for the targeted development to become one of the most efficient suppliers of additives and masterbatches across Europe”, Resinex-Constab will be able to make use of the established marketing organisation of the Resinex Group, which operates under the roof of the Belgian Ravago B.V. (B-2370 Arendonk), with 62 branches in 28 countries. It will also be able to call on the production capacities of over 50,000 t/y, which Constab has at its production site in Rüthen and at its sister companies in France, the Czech Republic, India, UK and China.

Constab Polymer-Chemie GmbH & Co is a subsidiary of Bernhard Rustige GmbH & Co KG, Rüthen, which posted worldwide sales in 1997 of approx. EUR 154m. The sales of Constab Polymer-Chemie were said to be approx. EUR 51m. Also part of the Bernhard Rustige Group are Constab Engineering Plastics GmbH, which concentrates on silane-crosslinked polyethylene for cable and pipe applications, and the Polymer Institut Brno (Czech Republic), which the Group can call on for the development and refinement of products and production processes in close cooperation with customers.
