Sales and profits improve in second half 2009 / Production to be restructured in central Europe
PET bottle manufacturer Resilux (Wetteren / Belgium; www.resilux.com) has reported stable sales for the first half of 2009, with volumes growing in the second half, and says that sales for the year are expected to be between 5% and 10% higher than in 2008. It expects a year-on-year increase in net profits in the second half of 2009 and says it has succeeded in reducing its debt over the year. During 2009 it will have repaid EUR 8.2m of subordinated loans.
The company, which entered a cooperation agreement in September with an as yet unnamed international research and development group relating to new applications in plastic packaging, is also planning to reorganise its production facilities in central Europe. In an intermediate statement, it said that it had established Resilux South East Europe SRL and plans to acquire industrial land that may lead to the decentralisation of production by central European subsidiary Resilux Hungária Packaging with the aim of optimising service and supporting further growth and productivity in central Europe.
