REIFENHÄUSER
German firm builds its “biggest ever” machine / Spanish production underway / Costs reduced
The largest agricultural film production line ever built by Reifenhäuser (Troisdorf / Germany; www.reifenhauser.com) is now operating at Armando Alvarez group´s facility in southern Spain. The line with its immense construction height of 35m is capable of producing three-layer blown film with a maximum output capacity of 2,200 kg/hour. Film circumferences up to 18.5 m can be achieved in thicknesses from 0.08 to 0.2 mm.

The line produces film used mainly in the construction of greenhouses, although tunnel film for vegetable growing and field covering films (for mulching and crop forcing) can also be produced.

The machine has three extruders, two with 150 mm diametre screws and the third with 200 mm screw diametre. The three-layer blown film die has internal bubble cooling and a die diametre of 2,200 mm.

Reifenhäuser says its three-layer films can be produced on the coextrusion lines with considerably reduced consumption of raw materials. Expensive additives can be used in the thin outer layers only, further reducing costs.

The films are claimed to offer high weather resistance, good light permeability and high tear resistance.
