RECYCLING
Tenders sought by WRAP to demonstrate closed-loop recycling potential for WEEE plastics
The UK´s Waste & Resources Action Programme (London / UK; www.wrap.org.uk) is inviting bids to increase the use of recycled plastics within the electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) industry. Forming part of WRAP´s recently announced manufacturing programme, the tender aims to maximise the use of recyclate through a shift from virgin to recycled materials. Tenders are invited to demonstrate: the technical ability to recycle WEEE plastics into materials suitable for manufacture of EEE products; the economic viability of the recycling opportunity; and the environmental impact compared with using virgin materials. According to WRAP, the project is intended to kick-start closed-loop recycling of EEE plastics by encouraging major OEMs to take advantage of an opportunity they can continue to exploit when the project is completed.
