DSD presents balanced result for 2002
The introduction of a mandatory EUR 0.25-0.50 deposit on non-returnable packaging in Germany at the beginning of 2003 will result in losses of sales of around EUR 310m per year for Duales System Deutschland (DSD, D-51145 Cologne; www.gruener-punkt.de) the company that issues the green recycling dot. However, despite turbulent developments surrounding the deposit, along with competition issues, DSD said it has been able to increase efficiency. In 2002, the company again lowered its fees for using the green dot.
