RECYCLING EUROPE
EPBP and RecyClass join hands to further PET recycling
The European PET Bottle Platform (EPBP; www.epbp.org) recycling scheme and RecyClass (Brussels; www.recyclass.eu), an EU-wide initiative developed by Plastics Recyclers Europe (Brussels; www.plasticsrecyclers.eu), have joined forces to further support the recycling value chain in PET bottle production so that its recyclability is guaranteed.

The move comes amidst numerous commitments by industry players to increase their uptake of recycled plastics and the new EU 25% mandatory target in PET bottles by 2025.

EPBP will handle the governance development and update of the testing protocols. RecyClass will supervise the execution and validation of the analysis of the standard package based on EPBP guidelines and protocols including running standard testing as well as ensuring impartiality and the highest quality of tests.

Recently, RecyClass received recognition for its Recycled Plastics Traceability Certification by the European co-operation for accreditation (see Plasteurope.com of 21.01.2022).
