Plastics Recyclers Europe announces winners for 2024

Eight winners were announced at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) 2024, held in Amsterdam and organised by industry association Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE, Brussels, www.plasticsrecyclers.eu) and Crain Communications.

The awards exemplify the best advances in the circular use of plastics in products as well as the latest technology and machinery innovations facilitating plastics recycling, the organisers said.
Winning entries and companies are as follows:
- Automotive, Electrical, or Electronic: Electrolux 900 series Air Purifier by Electrolux (Stockholm, Sweden; www.electroluxgroup.com)
- Building & Construction: RPS Skimmer by Fluidra (Barcelona, Spain; www.fluidra.com)
- Household & Leisure: Blue Finn Chair by Bywyd (www.bywyd.nl)
- Plastic Packaging: Nivea Sun Lotion Bottle by Beiersdorf (Hamburg, Germany; www.beiersdorf.com) and Morssinkhof Plastics Heerenveen (Lichtenvoorde, Netherlands; www.morssinkhof-rymoplast.com)
The winner of the Recycling Machinery Innovation award went to Erema (Ansfelden, Austria; www.erema.com) for its DischargePro Technology by Powerfil, a new generation of plastic melt filter, which judges described as a smart technological advance in the extrusion process.
The Product Technology Innovation award given to Multi-Color Corporation (Rosemont, Illinois, USA; www.mcclabel.com) for NextCycle IML, an innovation that helps maximise the value of recycled polypropylene and represents a good balance between shelf appeal and recyclability for mono-material PP packaging.
The winners received a trophy with a 3D-printed base made from 100% recycled ABS plastic car dashboards and a multi-colour top that is laser cut from compressed HDPE beach clean-up bottle caps.
