Industry association Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE, Brussels, www.plasticsrecyclers.eu) and Crain Communications, joint organisers of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) 2023, announced the winners of the seven recycling awards for this year.

The awards – given for progress in effective design for recycling – are as follows:

• Automotive, Electrical & Electronic: 700 GreenZone MaxiSpace fridge freezer by Electrolux and Coolrec
• Building & Construction: Ridgidrain by Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation
• Household & Leisure: Gardena Eco Line garden tools by Husqvarna
• Plastic Packaging: Container for fertiliser by PreZero Polymers, Kunststoff Recycling Grünstadt & Compo

The Plastics Recycling Ambassador was awarded to Manfred Hackl, CEO of Erema.

The winner of the Recycling Machinery Innovation award is Engel Austria for its two-stage process for more energy-efficient plastics recycling.

The Product Technology Innovation award went to Avient for its Colour Prediction Service, which impressed the judges for its potential to open the door to the use of plastic recyclates in an increasing range of aesthetic applications.

The winners received a trophy, with a 3D-printed base made from 100% recycled ABS plastic car dashboards and a multi-colour top that was laser cut from compressed HDPE beach clean-up bottle caps.
