The “HÅG Capisco” office chair by Scandinavian Business Seating (London / UK; www.sbseating.co.uk) was awarded "European Best Recycled Plastic product 2015" at the "IdentiPlast" (www.identiplast.eu) conference on plastic waste recycling and recovery in Rome in April (see also Plasteurope.com of 21.05.2015).
Scandinavian Business Seating’s Atle Thiis-Messel said: “The HÅG Capisco chair is our best seller with sales of 46,000 chairs/year. It is made of 50% recycled materials and the plastic parts are manufactured from 100% recycled PP. It has also been designed to be dismantled easily making it easy to separate the different parts and materials for repair or recycling.”
Second place in the awards, which are backed by the European Association of Plastics Recycling and Recovery Organisations (EPRO, Brussels; www.epro-plasticsrecycling.org), was awarded to PAV Recyclate (Berlin / Germany; www.pav-recyclate.de) for its plastic railway tie, manufactured from 65% - 85% recycled HDPE and 15% - 35% recycled glass fibre.
Ashortwalk (Truro / UK; www.ashortwalk.com), a member of plastics waste management and recycling organisation Recoup (Peterborough / UK; www.recoup.org), produced the third place entry, the “Eco-Potagator”. The design incorporates both a propagator to support seedlings in the early stages of growth and transforms into a plant pot when it outgrows the propagator. The product is made from 100% recycled yoghurt pots and CD cases.
Recoup is sponsoring the “UK Best Recycled Plastic Product Award” at the "Plastics Industry Awards 2015" that will take place in London in October. Entry details can be found at www.plasticsawards.com. The closing date for applications is the 19th June.
