RAVAGO
Acquisition of two EPS producers in Greece and Turkey
Compounder and distributor Ravago (Arendonk / Belgium; www.ravago.com) has acquired EPS producers Monotez (Athens / Greece; www.monotez.com) and Eastchem (Izmir / Turkey; www.eastchem.com.tr), which have a combined capacity of over 200,000 t/y.
Monotez was founded in the early 1960s and initially produced EPS boards for building insulation. In the early 1970s the company’s main activity switched to the production of EPS as a raw material. The annual production from the Inofyta site in Greece has progressively grown to 70 000 t/y with 80% of sales exported into Europe and the Mediterranean region. Eastchem was created in 2006 and produces EPS for the local Turkish market and for export to former CIS countries. According to Plasteurope.com's Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net) the nameplate capacitiy of Eastchem in Allaga / Turkey is 150,000 t/y.
