German medical devices manufacturer Raumedic (Helmbrechts; www.raumedic.com) has appointed William F. Gearhart to head its US subsidiary at Mills River, near Asheville, North Carolina. The new CEO will have responsibility for developing the Raumedic brand into an industry-leading standard for high quality, value-added medical and pharmaceutical products in North America, the company said.

A clean room, several polymer extrusion lines, moulding and assembly units were set up in 2016, and production of disposable medical devices such as catheters and tubing will start later this year. Currently, 50 employees work at the site, and plans call for eventually doubling staff. Investment in the Mills River facilities is expected to total USD 27m (EUR 25m) by 2022.
