Italy’s Radici Group (Bergamo; www.radicigroup.com) said its “Radiflam” flame-resistant engineering plastic has been used for the seats in five major sports stadiums in Brazil following certification of the material for this application. Radici Plastics Ltda, Radici’s Brazilian subsidiary, is the first company in Brazil to obtain certification for use of its engineering plastics in the manufacture of stadium seat components. The stadiums using the material are the “Mineirão” in Belo Horizonte, the “Estádio Nacional” in Brasília, the “Fonte Nova” in Salvador and the “Arena Grêmio” and “Beira-Rio” in Porto Alegre.
As well as having good mechanical resistance and flame retardant characteristics, the seat components must be able to resist extended exposure to UV rays, Radici said.
