QUADRANT
Heat-stabilised PP for medical applications introduced
Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (Quadrant EPP, Lenzburg / Switzerland; www.qplas.com) has introduced “Proteus” LSG HS PP heat-stabilised PP for medical applications. The company said that parts fabricated from the material are able to withstand repeated steam and autoclave sterilisation cycles thanks to its deflection temperature of over 149°C under 0.455 MPa load.
The material is also claimed to be highly resistant to cleaning agents, disinfectants and a range of solvents, making it a suitable material for surgical trays, caddies and instrument components used in various life science applications.
Proteus LSG HS PP will be available as plates in both white and black. The production process includes a heat-treatment phase that increases the deflection temperature, improves machinability and optimises dimensional stability, the company said.
