Weak automotive market hits 2007 sales
Quadrant (Zurich / Switzerland; www.quadrantplastics.com) has reported sales of CHF 812m (EUR 506m) for 2007, a 1% increase on the previous year. The company’s high performance plastics division, which accounts for 82% of sales, contributed CHF 664m, up 3% on 2006. Sales in the plastic composites / cable protection systems division fell by 6% year-on-year to CHF 148m due to weak demand in the fourth quarter in the automotive sector.
Quadrant strengthened its market position for high performance plastics in Asia at the end of the year by increasing its shareholding in Quadrant EPP Japan from 50% to 80%. Quadrant consequently also took over management responsibility for the Japanese company. The positive effect on consolidated sales from this participation increase is expected to be at about CHF 12m in 2008.
