Spanish beauty packaging manufacturer Quadpack (Barcelona; www.quadpack.com) has launched a tube made of 100% post-consumer recycled plastics. The packaging comes in two sizes – a 5-20 ml tube with a standard neck and a 5-15 ml sample-sized tube with a metal roller ball for application.

A layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymers can be added to containers meant for alcohol or citric ingredients, and anti-UV properties can be incorporated for UV sensitive formulas. Quadpack offers further customisation in the form of colour-matching, screen-printing, metallising and other decorations to meet brand requirements.

In 2018, the Spanish packaging manufacturer invested USD 200,000 in 3D printing technology at its R&D facility in the UK. The “Stratasys J750” printer accelerates speed-to-market, in particular in the early stages of customised packaging design and development, says Quadpack, adding that this is the only printer that can produce “full-colour, multi-material prototypes in a single print for initial product testing, as well as injection moulds for low-volume testing of the final product.” Quadpack prints three types of models with the J750 – prototypes, development samples for customised models and trial moulds. The latter are compatible with the production lines at its Quadpack Plastics injection moulding plant in Castellbisbal / Spain.

Quadpack has sales offices and facilities in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and the US. Outsourcing much of production to partners, the company manufactures about 20% of its packaging products itself.
