“Solvin Award”: Presentation of awards at K 2001 / Gold medal for Wavin pipe system
The pipe producing company Wavin BV (NL-8000 AD Zwolle; www.wavin.com) has won the first prize in the Europe-wide competition for innovative PVC applications organised by Solvin (D-47495 Rheinberg; www.solvinpvc.com). The gold medal and a cheque for EUR 50,000 was awarded to Wavin for its biaxially-oriented PVC pipe system called “Apollo” which is said to reduce pipe installation costs for water suppliers.
Two contestants received the silver medal. The first silver medal was awarded to Pipelife BV (NL-1600 AJ Enkhuizen; www.pipelife.com) who received EUR 25,000 for no-leak house-connection saddle-fittings and gas flow stoppers for the gas distribution. The other EUR 25,000 and silver medal was awarded to Marley Floors ( www.marley.com) for a flooring made of post consumer recycled granules. Deceuninck (B-8830 Hooglede-Gits; www.deceuninck.com) was awarded the bronze award (EUR 10,000) for its acoustic insulation walls for highways made of pre and post consumer recycled PVC.
