Feasibility study for Russian PLA project / Cooperation agreement with Rotec
Dutch bioplastics specialist Purac (Gorinchem; www.purac.com) has signed a cooperation agreement with Rotec, the project development arm of Russia’s Renova Group (Moscow; www.renova.ru), for an economic feasibility study on producing and supplying polylactic acid (PLA) in Russia.

In the study, Rotec will analyse the availability of optimal agricultural land and feedstocks and potential production locations, as well as researching the Russian market. Purac will analyse feedstock-to-PLA technologies and define the business case. Purac currently operates plants in the Netherlands, Spain, the US, Brazil and Thailand. The company started offering samples of high heat-resistant PLA resins in February – see Plasteurope.com of 14.02.2013.
