EU launches probe into dumping by Russian and Chinese producers / Complaint by Cefic
The European Commission has launched an investigation into charges of dumping alleged by the European chemical industry federation Cefic (B-1150 Brussels; www.cefic.org) against exporters of PTFE granules from Russia and China. The Cefic members requesting the probe represent more than 50% of total production capacity in the EU.

According to Eurostat figures, Russian companies at last count exported around 3,800 t/y of PFTE to the EU and made up around 30% of its 13,000 t/y total market volume. This was down from the estimated 6,200 t/y it exported to the EU in 2001. At the same time, China´s share rose to 19% of the EU volume, or 1,700 t. Although the figure is still small, it is nevertheless more than double the 747 t China exported in 2001.
